Safe Routes to Schools

Safe Routes to Schools is a national program designed to decrease traffic and pollution and increase the health of children. The idea is to promote walking and biking to school instead of riding. Through education and parental and school administration involvement, neighborhoods have been transformed into a supportive and fun network to get children to school. The program also seeks to address the safety concerns of parents by encouraging greater enforcement of traffic laws, educating the public, and exploring ways to create safer streets.
